Update from DukeEnergy: Enhancing service reliability in Eastover and surrounding areas
To: Mr. Kim Nazarchyk, Eastover Town Manager
Good morning. As your district manager at Duke Energy, Iwant to make you aware of work that our crews and contract crews will beperforming to enhance service reliability in parts of the Town of Eastover andthe surrounding area during the first four months of 2018. Please feelfree to share this information with town officials and town staff, as you deemappropriate.
As part of our increased investment to upgrade the electricpower grid, Duke Energy crews and our contract crews will be systematicallychanging out poles, conductor and transformers on the primary feeder powerlines that serve customers in parts of the Town of Eastover and the surroundingarea. In addition, the upgrades to the power lines will position our company tobe able to isolate areas affected by power outages, and provide our companywith more options to restore power more quickly to customers affected by apower outage.
This work will be performed this winter and early spring, weather permitting. When crews are performing these upgrades , therewill be a need for a planned, temporary power outage for that particularsection of the power line. These planned power outages could last up to fourhours, while this work is performed. The individual customers who will beaffected by each planned outage will be notified in advance by our company. We anticipate that our work will be performed such that most customers willonly experience one planned power outage at some point during this four monthperiod, and they will be notified in advance.
The purpose of my communication to you today is to make youaware of our plans to upgrade the power grid serving our customers in the Townof Eastover, and also to make you aware of our plans to notify individuals inadvance of these planned power outages.
Please feel free to call me at 910-690-3718 if you have anyquestions or need more information.
