Institute forCommunity Leadership Accepting Applications - Deadline is July 17 FAYETTEVILLE– The Institute for Community Leadership is accepting applications forthe 2017-2018 class. The program is designed to develop and empower communitymembers, especially those not previously identified, who are able and willingto commit to leadership and service roles in addressing important issues inFayetteville and Cumberland County. Theinstitute will start its 14th year in September and is a joint effort sponsoredby the City of Fayetteville, Cumberland County Government, Cumberland CountySchools, Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical CommunityCollege and Methodist University. There is no charge to participate. Theleadership program holds seven monthly training sessions from September throughApril, excluding the month of December. Sessions are held in differentlocations from 6 to 9 p.m., usually on the third Tuesday of the month. Thefocus varies each month and targets different areas of community service, withan emphasis on non-profit agencies, city and county government, arts andcultural organizations, schools and colleges. Anyoneinterested in applying for the leadership program must be a registeredCumberland County voter, agree to attend every session if selected and bewilling to sign up as a volunteer with one community organization.
