Hazard Mitigation Meeting
Hazard Mitigation Community Meetings Scheduled FAYETTEVILLE – NorthCarolina Emergency Management will hold four community meetings acrossCumberland County to inform homeowners who suffered significant flood-relateddamage from Hurricane Matthew about the state’s Hazard Mitigationprogram. At the notification meetings,homeowners will learn about options available under the mitigation program suchas acquisition, elevation, and reconstruction. The four meetings are open toall residents regardless of the municipality or area of the county where theylive. The meetings will be held: · Monday,Feb. 13, at 7 p.m., South View High School, 4184 Elk Road, Hope Mills · Wednesday,Feb. 15, at 6 p.m. at the Eastover Community Building,4008 School St., Eastover · Wednesday,Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. at Westover Recreation Center,267 Bonanza Dr., Fayetteville · Thursday,Feb. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Spring Lake Town Hall,300 Ruth St., Spring Lake As a follow-up to themeetings, homeowners interested in participating in the various mitigationprograms may register through a separate intake process. Intake Center hours areTuesday through Friday, Feb. 14-17, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday,Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cumberland County Department of SocialServices, 1235 Ramsey St., Fayetteville. The notification meetings arebeing conducted separately from the intake process because of the unique needsand situations of each homeowner. The intake process may be time-consumingbecause of the information required to determine the extent of damages andwhether homeowners qualify for one program or another. ###
