Register of DeedsOffice Collects School Supplies For Homeless Children

 

FAYETTEVILLE – The Register of Deeds office isholding its annual school supply drive for homeless Cumberland County schoolchildren through Aug. 1. Individuals, businesses, groups and churches areencouraged to give.

 

The Register of Deeds office would like to collect suppliesto fill 800 book bags to be donated to the approximately 600 homeless childrenin county schools, as well as 200 additional bags for homeless relief eventsand the American Red Cross to help families who have experienced a disaster.

 

Donated items can be dropped off Monday through Friday from8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Register of Deeds office in Room 114 of the CumberlandCounty Courthouse, 117 Dick St. The deadline to drop off items is Aug. 1.

 

The following school supplies are needed: pencils, pens,notebooks, rulers, composition books, folders, notebook paper, pencilsharpeners, erasers, glue sticks, crayons, toothbrushes, toothpaste, handsanitizer and toothbrush cases.

 

In addition to school supplies, gift cards or cash donationswill be accepted. However, checks will not be accepted. Once all the schoolsupplies are collected, they will be turned over to the Fayetteville PoliceDepartment and Cumberland County Schools for distribution. The Register ofDeeds office would like to fill bags for each homeless school student in thecounty.
