Board of Elections Approves Early Voting Plan for March Primary

  FAYETTEVILLE – The North Carolina Board of Elections has approved the Cumberland County Board of Elections’ One-Stop Early Voting schedule and polling sites for the North Carolina primary on March 15. Board of Elections members and staff created the schedule after receiving input from members of the public. The County Board of Elections voted unanimously Dec. 10 to approve the early voting schedule and polling sites.  


One-Stop Early Voting dates and times are: 


Board of Elections (227 Fountainhead Lane)

March 3 – 4 & March 7 – 11  8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

March 5 (Saturday):    9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

March 12 (Saturday):   9 a.m. – 1 p.m. 

 
Cliffdale Recreation Center (6404 Cliffdale Rd.) -- East Regional Branch Library (4809 Clinton Rd.) Hope Mills Recreation Center (5766 Rockfish Rd.) -- North Regional Branch Library (855 McArthur Rd.) 

March 3 – 4 & March 7 – 11  10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

March 5 (Saturday):    9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

March 12 (Saturday):   9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

 
Identification Required in 2016 In 2016, registered voters will be required to show acceptable photo ID at the polls. Examples of acceptable photo ID include North Carolina driver’s license or ID card, passport, military ID, Veterans Administration card and certain tribal ID cards. Information on required ID, or options for citizens who don’t have or are not able to obtain an ID, can be found online at voterID.nc.gov or by calling toll-free 866-522-4723.  


Poll Workers Needed The Board of Elections is seeking precinct workers for the March 15 primary. Individuals must be registered voters in Cumberland County. Unaffiliated voters and those registered from both political parties are needed to work at the County’s 77 precincts. Poll workers will be paid for attending a mandatory five-hour training session and for working on Election Day from 5:30 a.m. until all precincts have closed.   


Anyone interested in being a precinct worker may contact the Board of Elections at 910-678-7733. An application is available online at co.cumberland.nc.us/elections. Look for the “Poll Worker Interest Application” link. Applications are also available at the Board of Elections office in the E. Newton Smith Center at 227 Fountainhead Lane.
