How Eastover’s Incorporation Helps Us All
The residents of the proposed ‘Town of Eastover’ are seeking the support of all residents of Cumberland County for their municipal incorporation. If you believe Eastover should be able to determine its future, please let the members of the Local Legislative Delegation, the County Commission, and the Fayetteville City Council know.
For the City of Fayetteville, it’s about
A capable community assuming responsibility for urban services without financial obligations by the City
Selling water and sewer services from PWC to the Eastover Sanitary District, easing the city taxpayers’ burden
Being able to focus City resources on its service liability in the newly annexed areas
Having the eastern gateway enhanced with Town of Eastover improvements
Viewing the short-term transfer of sales tax revenue as an investment in a thriving community
Promoting growth which increases the purchase of goods and services at city businesses, pays sales tax, pays city property taxes on the businesses owned by Eastover residents in the city, and invests money and skills in city businesses.
Focusing on services for the anticipated incorporation of Fort Bragg
Respecting self-determination by local communities
For the smaller municipalities in Cumberland County, it’s about
Welcoming a good neighbor to the viable small town network in Cumberland County
Having a new town committed to working with the larger community towards common goals
For the County of Cumberland, it’s about
Showing regard for a responsible community
Aiding the development of urban services in rural areas
Preserving open spaces for protection of water and air quality
Supporting community involvement and intergovernmental cooperation
Embracing a community that values regional land use guidelines
Having an attractive, inviting eastern gateway to Cumberland County
For the Eastover community, it’s about
Being a capable community that wants to assume responsibility for its future
Preserving a proud heritage
Making a good community better
Maintaining a sense of community
Having a positive, permanent way to plan and manage services and population growth
Being good stewards of a fragile natural environment
Seeking state and federal grants for community improvement
